SUMMARY:Make a Serving Tray — November 3 & 10
DESCRIPTION:Beginner · No Experience Needed \nBuild a cherry serving tray with real casework joinery — and take it home ready to use. \nSchedule: Two Tuesday evenings — November 3 and 10\, 2026 — 5:30–8:30 pm \nWhat you’ll learn\nThe serving tray is the first project on our ladder that people immediately want to give away. It looks like furniture\, it lives on a coffee table instead of a shop shelf\, and it teaches you the joints that show up in every box\, drawer\, and cabinet you’ll ever build. \nYou’ll learn: \n\nReading a cut list and milling stock to dimension\nCutting rabbeted corner joints on the table saw\nCutting a stopped groove to capture a panel bottom\nSquaring an assembly during glue-up\nEasing edges with a round-over bit\nApplying a food-safe finish\nInstalling hardware cleanly\, after the finish is on\n\nThe cherry tray you’ll build and take home — 18¾” × 14¾”\, with stainless bar pulls. \nWho it’s for\nAnyone. No experience needed. If you’ve built with us before\, this is the class where your joinery starts looking intentional; if this is your first time in a shop\, you’ll be walked through every cut. It’s also a genuinely good gift project\, which is worth knowing in October. \nWhat’s included\n\nAll lumber\, plywood\, hardware\, and finish\nAll tools and equipment\nExpert instruction in a small group\nYour finished serving tray to take home\n\nHow it runs\nTwo evenings · 3 hours each. Mill\, cut\, and join in the first session; assemble\, sand\, finish\, and mount hardware in the second. The glue and the finish get a full night to cure between sessions\, which is honestly how the tray wants to be built. \nClass size is limited to 6 students.

SUMMARY:Craftsman-Style Bench — November
DESCRIPTION:Build an Arts & Crafts slat bench in solid cherry — joined with the Festool Domino. \nSchedule: 5 Tuesday evenings — November 17 and 24; December 1\, 8\, and 15\, 2026 — 5:30–8:30 pm \nThis is our advanced take on a classic form: tall slatted end panels\, gently arched rails\, and a solid wood slat seat. You’ll start from rough cherry — my favorite wood to work — and leave with a real piece of furniture: 43 inches of bench that only gets better with age\, as cherry deepens from honey to a rich reddish-brown patina over the years. \nIt’s a genuine step up from the beginner classes. You’ll mill and dimension a lot of parts\, cut repeatable joinery\, shape and fair clean arcs\, and glue up a large frame square. No biscuits\, no pocket screws — every joint is a loose-tenon Domino\, the way we’d build it for ourselves. We treat the first build as a prototype: the point is to practice the skills and enjoy the process\, not to chase perfection. Most people are surprised by what they carry out the door. \nHow it works: We meet weekly. Each session opens with a demo\, then you get bench time to do the work with an instructor on hand for questions. Furniture takes time\, so you may need an hour or two beyond class to stay on pace — put that in during open shop hours (Wednesdays 5–7 or Saturdays 10–12)\, when an instructor is also around to help. \nWhat you’ll learn: milling and dimensioning for consistency\, Domino joinery in two sizes\, cutting and fairing arcs\, chamfering leg tops\, and squaring a big glue-up. \nWho it’s for: woodworkers who’ve done a project or two and are ready for real furniture. New to the shop? Start with the Tool Tote or Introduction to Woodworking first. \nThe bench: 43″ × 20″ × 27¾″\, solid cherry\, yours to keep. \nAn $80 materials fee is added at checkout. \nClass size is limited to 4 students.
