What You Will Learn In this two-day workshop, you will:
- Introduction to Veneering: Understand the basics of veneer, including types, grain direction, and how to select the right veneer for your project.
- Design Fundamentals: Learn how to design your keepsake box, considering dimensions, aesthetics, and functionality.
- Box Construction Techniques: Gain skills in cutting, joining, and assembling your box using traditional woodworking methods.
- Veneering Techniques: Discover various veneering methods, including bookmatching and edge banding, to enhance the beauty of your box.
- Finishing Touches: Explore finishing techniques to protect and enhance the natural beauty of the wood, including sanding, staining, and applying a clear coat.
All materials will be provided, including:
- A selection of high-quality veneers
- Wood for the box structure
- Adhesives and finishing supplies
- Tools (saws, clamps, sanders, etc.) will be available for use during the class
