Relief Linocut Carving

In this five-week course, express yourself in this age-old printmaking medium. After learning to properly and safely handle your carving tools, explore ways to translate your ideas into a composition that compliments the craft and gets the most out of your new carving skills. You will carve two 6 x 9 plates as separate, single-color images or one multi-plate color image. Learn registration techniques for successfully matching up your inky linoleum plates with your paper to print a small edition of your image by hand. Options for introducing color will be covered, including the use of multiple plates, hand coloring, Chine colle techniques and other elements. Bring home your prints, along with the knowledge and enthusiasm to continue on your own!
