Craftsman-Style
Bench

Build an Arts & Crafts slat bench in solid cherry — joined with the Festool Domino.

What you’ll learn

This is our advanced take on a classic form: tall slatted end panels, gently arched rails, and a solid wood slat seat. You’ll start from rough cherry — my favorite wood to work — and leave with a real piece of furniture: 43 inches of bench that only gets better with age, as cherry deepens from honey to a rich reddish-brown patina over the years.

You’ll learn:

  • Milling and dimensioning for consistency
  • Domino loose-tenon joinery in two sizes
  • Cutting and fairing clean arcs
  • Chamfering leg tops
  • Squaring a big glue-up

Who it’s for

Woodworkers who’ve done a project or two and are ready for real furniture. It’s a genuine step up from the beginner classes — no biscuits, no pocket screws; every joint is a loose-tenon Domino, the way we’d build it for ourselves. New to the shop? Start with the Tool Tote or Introduction to Woodworking first.
