General

The Joinery’s facilities and tools are for the general hobbyist wishing to create and build personal and one-off projects. The Joinery is a shared facility and depends on individual responsibility for keeping the facilities and tools in clean and working order. Respect for the equipment, facilities, and each other is the minimum expectation for continued use.

Commercial Use

The Joinery is for private use and not to be used to produce commercial products or high-volume items. Occasional volume use may be granted for gift-making, charitable support or other special needs. Management must approve all special use cases.

  • Use age-appropriate language.
  • Do not engage in discriminatory behavior of any kind.
  • Do not engage in harassment.
  • Do not operate machinery while under the influence of impairing substances.

Safety is the top responsibility of every member and guest.

  • All members and guests are required to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Understand the safe use of any tool before using it.
  • Members must not allow unsafe practices by any guest or other member.
  • Members must be certified to use machine tools.
  • Eye protection is required when using machinery.

  • Dust masks are recommended.
  • If you are not comfortable using a tool, please ask for help.
  • The Joinery highly recommends that you do not use machine tools alone.

Guests

Guests are allowed to be accompanied by members. Machine tools are used only by the certified member. Extended use by guests requires an individual membership. The member is always responsible for the guest.

Storage & Personal Property

Mark your materials and tools with personal identification. All personal tools and materials should be stored in member storage locations or removed from the facility. Items left in work areas will be removed by staff.

Access

The Joinery uses facial recognition for 24/7 access. Members must be present when using their credentials. Access is given after Safety and Orientation completion.

Alcohol & Drug Policy

Power and hand tools are prohibited while under the influence of alcohol. No alcohol is allowed on premises unless authorized for special events. Use of illicit drugs, including marijuana and THC, is not allowed. Use of power tools is not allowed if taking medication that may impair you.
