Fused Glass
Design, layer, and fire your own glass pieces in a single Saturday morning.
What you’ll learn
Fused glass is the fast, forgiving cousin of stained glass: no lead, no solder, no foil. You cut and arrange pieces of colored sheet glass, add frit and stringers for texture, and the kiln melts it all into one solid piece. In four hours you’ll design and build two or three pieces of your own — ornaments, sun catchers, small dishes, whatever the season calls for.
You’ll learn:
- How to score and break sheet glass into the shapes you want
- Layering colors, frit, and stringers so they read well after firing
- Which glass plays nicely together in the kiln, and which doesn’t
- Assembling a piece so it fuses clean, with no trapped air or sharp edges
- What actually happens during the firing schedule
Who it’s for
Anyone. No glass experience, no woodworking experience, and no steady-hand requirement — this is the class we point people to when they want to make something in a morning and take a friend or a kid along. Each session has a seasonal theme (fall, Thanksgiving, holiday ornaments), but you’re free to make whatever you like. The class is capped at six students.
What’s included
- All glass, tools, work space, and instruction — there is no materials fee
- Kiln firing after class; finished pieces are ready for pickup at the shop a few days later
- Two or three finished pieces to keep or give away
