What you’ll learn

Segmented turning is where the table saw meets the lathe. Over two days you’ll build a twelve-segment ring from individually cut pieces, glue it up true, and then turn the whole thing into a finished bowl.

You’ll learn:

• Cutting accurate, repeatable segments on the table saw
• Why segment angles have to be exact — and how to sneak up on them
• Dry-fitting and correcting a ring before glue
• Clamping and gluing a segmented blank square and flat
• Mounting a glue-up safely on the lathe
• Turning and finishing a segmented bowl

Who it’s for

Turners ready for something more ambitious than a solid blank, and woodworkers comfortable at the table saw who want to try the lathe. Comfort at the lathe helps, but the segment work on day one is all flat-work.
