Weekly Shop Update – June 21, 2025
Hey everybody, it’s Steven here at The Joinery with your weekly shop update.
It’s a quiet week overall, but we do have our Introduction to Woodworking class happening right now—June 21st and 22nd. Always great to see folks jumping in and learning the basics. That course continues to be one of our most popular, and this group is off to a strong start.
Upcoming Classes
Next week is light during the weekdays, but Saturday, June 28, we’re running our Bandsaw Box Class—a fun, fast-paced half-day session. We’ll make a couple of small boxes and explore some of the creative things you can do with a bandsaw. There are still three open spots, so if you’ve been curious about that tool or just want to build something cool in a few hours, now’s your chance.
Looking ahead:
- July 2 is our next Member Meetup—always a good time to catch up, share progress, and connect with the rest of the community.
- Also on July 2 at 5:15 PM, we’ll host a Member Reorientation session. We’re asking all members to attend a reorientation every six months to go over what’s new—tools, policies, safety updates, etc. It’s a quick but important way to keep everyone up to speed. Please register for it ahead of time so we know you’re coming and can check that off for your membership record.
Open Class Registrations
We’ve got a full lineup of classes open for registration on the website:
- Intro to Woodworking – more July sessions available
- Intermediate Woodworking – coming this fall, with spots open
- Advanced Woodworking – brand new! We’ll build a candlestick table, explore some turning, and get into more complex joinery. If you’ve been wanting to level up, this is a great next step.
Shop Conditions
One last note: our air conditioning upstairs and in the office is currently down, and we’re waiting on new units to be installed. The shop AC is still running, but it’s warmer than usual in here. So if you’re working in the shop:
- Stay hydrated
- Take breaks
- Be aware that heat can tire you out faster than you think
Your safety always comes first—so listen to your body and pace yourself.
That’s it for now. Stay safe, keep cool, and we’ll see you in the shop!
—Steven
