Mid-May Shop Update: Quiet Week, Big Additions
Hey makers! Steven here with your weekly update for the week of May 19th through the 25th, and it’s shaping up to be a quiet but productive one at The Joinery.
If you’ve got a project you’ve been meaning to finish—or start!—this is a perfect time to swing by. The shop is calm, open, and ready for your creativity.
A Light Schedule (But Not Without Action)
We’ve only got two events on the calendar:
- Thursday continues our ongoing Introduction to Woodworking course.
- Saturday and Sunday (May 24–25) we’re hosting our Weekend Introduction to Woodworking class.
These sessions bring in new faces and energy, so while the shop remains open to members, just be aware there may be a bit of extra activity.
New Tools & Amenities
A couple of exciting updates for everyone:
- We now have a new water cooler in the break room! Bring your own cup and enjoy some crisp, filtered refreshment.
- New dedicated crosscut sled installed on the table saw near the office (the one farthest from the garage door). It’s now set up solely for crosscutting—perfect for dialing in clean, square cuts every time.
- Coming very soon: a large mortising machine. This will be a great addition for those working on more intricate joinery projects.
Now’s the Time to Build
With more open bench space and new tools rolling in, there’s never been a better moment to get into the shop. Whether you’re continuing a project or just stopping by to check out the improvements, we’d love to see you.
And if you haven’t visited us in a while, consider this your sign—come by during our open house hours, say hello, and take a tour. We’ve got the tools, the space, and a welcoming community of woodworkers eager to support your next build.
🔨 See you in the shop!
