I just signed up for my first 5K race. I really don’t like running but it is a good form of exercise and a burn a lot of calories in a short period of time. I thought I needed some motivation, so I signed up for this race. So to prepare I’m going to stick to my calorie counting and eating healthy foods. I am going to also add a new exercise regimen where I can build my stamina speed for the race. Since I live close to the race route, My plan is to run the route at least once per week and next five weeks. In addition, each week I will have a goal of how much I will run vs. how much I will walk. Since I usually use an indoor track that where 12 laps equals a mile, my goals will look something like this;

  • Week 1= 3 laps running, 3 laps walking for 6 cycles

  • Week 2 = 4 laps running, 3 laps walking for 5 cycles

  • Week 3= 5 lap running, 3 laps walking for 4+ cycles

  • Week 4= 6 laps running, 3 laps walking for 3+ cycles

  • Week 5= race prep.

So, I have plan, lets see how it works out.
