Weekly Shop Update June 7-15
Hey everyone, Steven here at The Joinery with your weekly update—well, technically your “next week” update—covering June 9th through the 15th. I’ve got a few things to share, so let’s dive in.
Member Shop Workday (June 7th)
Before we get into next week, mark your calendars for Saturday, June 7th: we’re hosting a member shop workday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. If you’re around, swing by and lend a hand. We’ll knock out basic maintenance, tidy up, and maybe even swing into a few small projects together. It’s usually quick and painless, and when we’re done, the shop will be sparkling clean and ready to roll for the month ahead.
A Light Week in the Shop
Next week is pretty mellow—no big group classes clogging up the calendar. I do have a couple of one-on-one sessions lined up, but other than that, the shop floor will be nice and open. Remember, if you’re itching to make progress on your projects, you can always book time with me: 30 minutes at a time for $30 a half-hour. Whether you need help working through a tricky detail or just want someone to bounce ideas off of, those sessions are a great way to keep momentum.
Open House (June 14th)
Now here’s something to get excited about: our next Open House is on Friday, June 14th, and we’re aiming to make it a big one. If you know anyone curious about woodworking—or just looking for a fun night out—please spread the word. We’d love to welcome new faces, show off the shop, and maybe spark that “I want to try woodworking” moment for someone who’s never picked up a chisel. Word of mouth is huge for us, so if you can tell a friend, a neighbor, or a family member, we’ll be grateful.
Father’s Day (June 15th)
Finally, a quick reminder: Sunday, June 15th is Father’s Day. To all the dads out there—enjoy your day and celebrate however you like. If you’re looking for a last-minute gift idea, remember: you’ve still got a bit over a week to build something special in the shop. Come on in, and we can help you knock out a simple cutting board, a small shelf, or whatever else you can dream up in short order. And if Father’s Day hits you differently—maybe you don’t have a dad to celebrate—take a moment to reach out to someone who’s been a mentor or father figure in your life. A little gratitude goes a long way.
That’s all for now. Looking forward to seeing you in the shop—whether it’s June 7th for workday, a one-on-one sometime next week, the Open House on June 14th, or just around when you need a place to make sawdust. Thanks for reading, and I’ll catch you next time!
