We are making progress. My son, Andrew and I were able to get the DriCore down and the walls up. The DriCore was very easy to install and went down in no time. The walls were not too bad, but we had to deal with some columns and beam support issues. When we started the renovation we noticed that one of the beams seemed to be sagging. When we measured we found a 3/4 inch sag. There were three 2 X 10″ beams that spanned 17′. We also found where a column had been removed.
On the other end of the room there was a column that was placed in the middle of the span at 8′ from one wall and 14′ from the other. Since it was not in an optimal spot and the other was missing totally our plans changed and we split the room down the middle and added a wall to support the beams. Overall, I think it will be a good change and in the end the space will be much more functional.
Next up, electrical and insulation!
