Shop Update – May 12–18
Hey everyone, it’s Steven from The Joinery with your update for the week ahead. There’s a lot happening, so let’s dive in:
Thursday, May 15 – Introduction to Woodworking (5:30–8:00 PM)
The intro class continues this Thursday evening. If you’re around the shop, be aware we’ll have students learning the ropes—feel free to say hi or share some encouragement.
Saturday, May 17 – Member Shop Day (9:00–11:00 AM)
We’ve got a Member Shop Day on Saturday morning. It’s a great time to pitch in with some light cleanup and connect with fellow members. If there’s time, we may even tackle a fun group project.

Maker to Maker
Tour at the Chazen (12:00 PM)
Also on Saturday, I’ll be leading a tour of the Maker to Maker: The Joinery and Wharton Esherick exhibit at the Chazen Museum. If you haven’t seen it yet, this is a great opportunity—Wharton Esherick is often called the father of studio furniture and a key figure in the American craft movement. The pieces on display are truly inspiring. The tour is free and open to the public, and the exhibit wraps up the next day, Sunday, May 18.
Big News – Club Express App is Live
We’re officially moving lumber and material purchases to the Club Express app. If you haven’t already, go ahead and download it—available on both iPhone and Android. Once logged in with your Joinery credentials, you’ll be able to:
- Purchase shop supplies directly from your phone
- View the events calendar
- Register for classes
- Jump straight into our Discord
- Receive shop updates from me (with notifications on)
It’s quick to use, and we’ll be adding more features as we go, so get familiar with it now.
