Shop Update: June Kicks Off with Events, Upgrades & Community Time
Hey folks! Steven here with your friendly shop update—and this week, while I’m not coming to you from the shop floor, I’m still full of good news and updates for our Joinery community.
First off, a big shoutout to Capital Hardwoods on their grand opening! We had a fantastic time out there meeting fellow makerspace folks and suppliers. If you haven’t stopped by yet, definitely check them out. Great selection, great prices.
What’s Happening This Week at The Joinery
It’s a quieter week for classes, but packed with great opportunities for our members:
🪚 Member Meetup – Monday at 6pm
Join us for a relaxed evening where I’ll walk through how I brainstorm and plan out new woodworking projects. Whether you’re thinking of building a planter, a patio table, or something totally unique—this will be a great way to get inspired and exchange ideas with fellow makers.
🔧 New Member Reorientation
We’re rolling out a reorientation process for all members to make sure everyone’s up to speed on shop policies, safety, and resources. Think of it as a friendly tune-up for your Joinery membership.
🧰 Member Work Day – Saturday, June 7
Next Saturday is our monthly Member Work Day. It’s a chance to roll up your sleeves, help with some shop upkeep, and maybe get your hands on a few new tools we’ve added. We’ll also try to come up with a fun mini-project to improve the space—suggestions welcome!
Looking Ahead: Open House + Referral Perks
🗓️ Saturday, June 14 – Open House
Mark your calendars and bring your friends! Our next Open House is shaping up to be a big one. It’s the perfect chance to introduce someone to The Joinery community.
🎁 New Referral Program
We’re launching a new referral benefit soon—details will land in your inbox via our Sunday newsletter. (Yes, check those emails—there’s always good stuff in there!)
📱 Get the Club Express App
Last but not least—make your woodworking life easier and download the Club Express app. You can see the shop calendar, manage your member profile, and stay up to date without waiting for my face to pop up on your screen.

That’s it for now! As always, if you’re curious about classes, looking to get started with woodworking, or just want to hang out with good folks who love to make things—come visit during Open House or drop us a note through thejoinery.club.
Happy making,
Steven
