Under the guidance of professional turner Ris Fleming, you’ll gain hands-on experience with the tools, techniques, and mindset that make woodturning both approachable and endlessly creative.
What You’ll Learn
- Lathe setup, safety, workholding and proper tool use
- How to select and prepare wood blanks, understand grain direction
- Fundamental spindle turning techniques (beads, coves, tapers)
- Basic bowl turning, hollowing and tenon cutting methods
- Tips and tricks to improve control, precision, and creativity
